Project DIADEM
DIADEM is designed to receive and store irradiating radioactive waste from the dismantling of various CEA facilities, prior to shipment to final disposal centres. Carried out by Comete alone, the first contract (€1.6m) for the supply of general handling equipment consists mainly of a secure crane (35 t), a 3.2 t crane, 8 monorails and a jib crane. For the second contract (€4.4m), carried out with the participation of CEGELEC CEM, Comete will supply a "lorry" (trolley) running underground and transporting containers from the reception hall into the shielded cells, as well as a gantry crane for conveying containers into the storage channels. The contract runs until 2017. |
