LAUNCHING OF THE BERTHIER BRIDGE IN PARIS

On 20 and 21 February, the bridge crossing the Boulevard Berthier in Paris, which links Porte de Clichy to rue Cardinet via the new streets of the Clichy Batignolles eco-district that OGI has been developing since 2005, was launched.

The work was carried out by Fayat Metal, Barbot and Castel & Fromaget, assisted by Urbaine de Travaux for the civil engineering, public lighting and roadwork, under the supervision of Paris Batignolles Aménagement.

The 870-tonne bridge, 43 metres long and 14 metres wide, was pre-constructed, then supported and lifted by four lorries (Kamags) before being gradually slid over the Boulevard Berthier to take up its final position between the abutments on either side of the boulevard.

Within the thickness of its three-metre deck, it incorporates the passage of all the networks required for the operation of the eco-neighbourhood (geothermal, electricity, water, pneumatic collection, sewerage, district heating).

Barbot carried out the design, workshop manufacture of the PRS beams and other parts of the bridge's metal framework, and final assembly on site.
