Many guests attended on April 5th 2016 at the opening ceremony of the Halles Canopy in Paris, chaired by Anne Hidalgo, Major of the French capital.
Formerly named “Forum des Halles”, the iconic building symbolizing the historic belly of Paris, located in the heart of the 1st arrondissement, has been completely renewed after five years of work.

Four companies of the Fayat group, Castel & Fromaget, Viry, Barbot and ACML, were fully involved in this project. They realized the whole steel building, among which the complex roof which is shaped in vegetable-inspired curves, as imagined by Patrick Berger and Jacques Anziutti (architects). Each composing piece of the roof is unique. The operation required the use of 6,000 tonnes of steel and 14,000 m² of glass.
NB - The Canopy of Les Halles in Paris was awarded the Prize for Excellence in the Commercial Buildings category of the 2015 European Steel Design Awards. This European distinction was given at the biannual steel construction convention (ECCS) held in Istanbul in September.
The building, now renamed Canopy des Halles, is the second shopping center in France and will welcome some 40 million visitors each year.
