Île aux Dames footbridge

The grande passerelle de l'île aux dames is designed as an undulating promenade exclusively for pedestrians and cyclists over the Seine.

The large footbridge over the Seine is designed as an undulating promenade exclusively for pedestrians and cyclists over the water. It runs alongside the road bridge and rests on the banks and existing piers of the Pont Neuf.

The backbone of the structure is made up of a central trapezoidal metal box, welded together and of variable height.

Covered with wooden decking, the structure overhangs the road bridge by around 1.50 m, from which it is completely separated.

Under river cut-off, the two sections were transported by barge from the port of Limay, where they were assembled, to Mantes-La-Jolie.

They were then lifted by a 66m-high crane to start the rotation process, before being placed on their supports near the collegiate church in Mantes-La-Jolie for the first section, and near the Théâtre de Verdure in Limay for the second.

Traffic was not interrupted during the operation.
